Credentials of the doctor
- Get information on when and where the doctor obtained his/her M.D (allopathic) or D.O. (osteopathic) medical degree.
- Look for additional training on any medical or surgical specialty after finishing his/her residency.
- He/She should be a certified medical practitioner who has successfully taken and passed a medical or surgical specialty board examination.
- Membership in related professional societies is also an indication of the physician's commitment for the advancement of his/her profession.
The hair restoration doctor's experience
- How long has he/she been performing surgical hair renewal procedures?
- Know the doctor's professional record. Since when did he/she start doing medical hair renewal procedures? And how many has he/she been treating in a month? A busier schedule can be an indication that the doctor is good and many are recommending his/her services.
- Does he/she practice any other types of cosmetic surgery aside from hairprocedures? This is important because your hair problem could be a part of an over-all problem that may need some dermatological procedures as well.
- Request for some before and after photos of the doctor's past patients to see whether you feel satisfied with the quality of his/her work.
Manner of the doctor's practice
- Find out if the doctor will do the procedure all by him/herself, or will he/she be assisted by other medical practitioners? You may not be comfortable with others present while doing the procedure.
- Look around and see if the office and the medical room are clean and organized.
- Is the office staff helpful? They should attend to your peripheral concerns and questions regarding billing, insurance, etc.
